When we moved from London to Forges in 1989, little did we think that we would run a B&B successfully for 20 years, be the Guide Routard editor's choice for the Correze and be chosen by Alastair Sawday as one of the three best in France.
However all things come to an end and in 2015 we re-opened La Souvigne as a furnished holiday home (gîte). The house has two bedrooms sleeping 4 people and has a 160cm zedbed in the sitting room for occasional use. In addition, there is a well equipped kitchen and guests have shared use of our shady front garden, complete with garden furniture and a BBQ.
The Correze is a beautiful unspoilt tranquil corner of France, through which the River Dordogne flows, and we are only 11km (7miles) from where it leaves the confines of its gorges, and opens out at Argentat.
We have excellent wildlife of all kinds, flowers, butterflies and birds, and the region is a real paradise for nature lovers. There are many well marked walking trails.
Food here is excellent, and we can recommend and describe several restaurants where we eat more or less regularly, within 15 minutes of us here. For those who want to take advantage of our experience in cooking for our B&B guests, perhaps once or twice a week we can provide some freshly prepared dishes which you can reheat.
