Your home, while you stay here in Forgès, is a small stone built cottage, probably dating from the 18th century, though it might be a bit older. When they bought it in 1994, Ian and Jacquie took a year to completely restore it themselves.

The sejour/kitchen

The "sejour" and kitchen like the rest of the house is at clients disposal at any time of the day. The enormous fireplace, into which the kitchen area is built, is known as a "Cantou" in the area, and is very much a feature of Corrèze houses. Ian was a chef in the UK so the kitchen is very well equipped for those who enjoy cooking.

This room, like all the rooms in the house, has electric thermostatic heating, and guests are more than welcome to use it on chilly spring or autumn (fall) mornings. Wifi is provided free of charge and can be captured throughout the holiday home - ask us for the passphrase.

Ground floor sitting room.

This is the newly redecorated and refurnished ground floor room, which opens off the kitchen/dining room and like the upstairs bedrooms. has a fitted wall-to-wall carpet. It is large enough to take a bed and to that end, we have put sofa/zed bed, 160cms wide there, as well as two comfortable armchairs. There is a modern satellite (French) TV and DVD player as well as a selection of games. We provide a washing machine and tumbler drier In the cellar beneath the sitting room, though in the summer, we have provided washing lines in the garden behind our house.

Our guests are very welcome to share our front garden and use the table and chairs and barbecue there while they sit out and take their ease. It is a comfortable place to relax and contemplate the delights of rural France! Ian and Jacquie used local materials to build the garden, with the result that it looks very much part of the countryside.

First floor bedrooms.

Because we used to run a bed and breakfast here, we have plentiful bedlinen, as well as towels and flannels. We provide all of these and launder them ourselves free of charge.

Both bedrooms were recently redecorated and have fitted carpets and thermostatic electric heaters. In each room there are bookshelves with a choice of reading matter in French and English - many other books are available on demand. Both shower rooms have heated towel rails and a thermostatically controlled shower.

The larger bedroom can be let as a double bedroom with a 180cm bed, or as a twin bedded room. Let us know what you prefer. There is an en suite shower room with thermostatically controlled shower, WC and washbasin.

The slightly smaller bedroom, beside the other one has twin beds. Like the double bedroom, it has an en suite shower room with thermostatically controlled shower, WC and washbasin.
